Westchester Classic — Finals: Bronx Science’s Seth Teleky and Monticello’s Dan Cook are declared co-champions.   Seth Teleky, Dan Cook Win Westchester Classic

  SHRUB OAK, N.Y. — The varsity Lincoln-Douglas debate tournament at the thirty-fourth annual Westchester Classic came to a close on Saturday night when the Bronx High School of Science’s Seth Teleky and Monticello High School’s Dan Cook won their semifinal rounds. The debaters agreed to forgo a final round and were thus declared co-champions. Seth, as top seed, was presented with the Principals’ Award. Congratulations to both champions! (more…) ShareThis

  Vestavia a Jesuit Close Out

  BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Vestavia Hills Rotary Club Over the Mountain Classic drew Lincoln-Douglas debaters from Alabama, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, and New York for two days of competition at the home base of one of the activity’s historic dynasty programs. At the end of the tournament, two debaters were left standing: teammates Will Simoneaux and Nick Falba and New Orleans Jesuit High School.   The Sandy Theobald Invitational at James Madison Memorial has released their extemporaneous speaking topics for this weekend’s tournament. The tournament continues its tradition of writing a boat load of extemp questions (95 to be exact - but they’d like to let you know they wrote 101 and threw out six) in the hopes of offering the best competition. Additionally, the tournament plans to continue its procedure of offering extempers two different envelopes to draw from each round - each envelope with its own topic.
