  Before we slip into July, I just wanted to mention that PFDebate.com turned 5 years old this month. The domain name was registered in May 2004 and the Web site was launched in June soon after the 2004 NFL National Tournament. During the first year of existence, PFDebate.com was an irregularly published blog that primarily focused on publishing links related to the current topic. I doubt that we had many readers that first year and I never bothered to check the server logs to find out.   CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Laird Lewis Invitational at Myers Park High School will be held January 8 and 9, 2010. The tournament features bids to the National Tournament of Champions at the octafinal round in Public Forum debate and the final round in Student Congress. “We are expanding to six prelim rounds in varsity debate events,” notes Jason Kline, “and allowing QUADRUPLE entry in most speech events.” On Sunday January 10, 2010, the National Public Forum Challenge III will take place.   It’s a 5-0 for Franken

  SAINT PAUL, Minn. — Following a unanimous ruling by the Minnesota Supreme Court, former Senator Norm Coleman conceded to Senator-elect Al Franken. Governor Tim Pawlenty is expected to certify the Franken’s 312-vote margin of victory sometime later today. This electoral victory gives the Democratic Party its sixtieth seat in the United States Senate.

  2009 Middle School Champs Crowned

  The 2009 IDEA/NJFL Middle School National  Tournament was held this past weekend in San Antonio,  TX. In the final round, Nikita Datta & Viveka Advani (CON) from Capitol Debate  defeated Ashely Alcantara & Tian Wang (PRO) from Sidney Lanier (TX) on a 2-1 decision to win the Public Forum Debate championship.   It is an interesting conundrum. What rights do groups have to discriminate for religious reasons? For any reasons, for that matter?
