  Catherine Tarsney Wins Voices Round Robin

  SAN JOSE, Calif. — Jordan Lamothe of the Meadows School and Catherine Tarsney of Saint Louis Park High School emerged from a field of fourteen competitors to compete in the final round of this year’s Voices Round Robin. On a 4-1 decision, Catherine defeated Jordan to win the tournament. Congratulations to both debaters! All fees and donations collected will go directly towards supporting initiatives that focus on John McKay’s original mission established upon the creation of the Voices Foundation in 2005.

  SAN JOSE, Calif. — The Meadows School’s Jordan Lamothe is the champion of the tenth annual Harker Invitational, having defeated the Blake School’s Erik Legried on a 3-2 decision in the final round to take the title. Tim Case, Ryan Lawrence, and Fritz Pielstick made up the majority, while Mike Bietz and Ben Holguin sat out. Congratulations to both finalists!   BASKING RIDGE, N.J. — The very best competition from across the Garden State converged on Ridge High School to compete at this weekend’s New Jersey Forensic League State Championships. The top eight varsity Lincoln-Douglas debaters advanced into the elimination rounds, until only one remained: state champion Whippany Park High School’s Dan Chen, who bested Millburn High School’s Michael Hassin on a 2-1 decision in finals.   IOWA CITY, Iowa — West Des Moines Valley High School’s Ross Brown successfully defended his title at the Iowa Forensic League State Speech and Debate Tournament, fending off a challenge by Iowa City West High School’s Graham Tierney by defeating him in the final round of the tournament on a unanimous decision.
