  MILWAUKEE, Wisc. — Marquette University High School is seeking candidates for the position of Director of Debate. The official job posting is available here on VBD. The school, notes Dean of Students Bob Herman, seeks an individual who will promote “enrollment and retention of students in a comprehensive, nationally competitive interscholastic debate program including managing all aspects of the day-to-day coaching of students in Policy, Lincoln-Douglas, and Public Forum debate.” He also notes that “Marquette University High School has a distinguished history of success in academic debate and the administration is committed to supporting a competitive program.” The original statement ...

  Minneapple Registration Opens August 15

  APPLE VALLEY, Minn. — The official invitation for the twenty-fifth annual Minneapple — to be held on November 5 and 6, 2010, at Apple Valley High School — is now online at Joy of Tournaments. Registration will be open on Sunday, August 15. In addition to offering three divisions of Lincoln-Douglas Debate (with an octafinal bid to the TOC in the varsity tournament) and an open Public Forum Debate division (with an octafinal bid), the tournament is offering, for the first time, a Congressional Debate division that offers a TOC bid to the top six competitors.

  Timmons Announces 2010 Greenhill Round Robin

  ADDISON, Tex. — Aaron Timmons, director of debate at the Greenhill School, has announced the Lincoln-Douglas Debate participants in the 20010 edition of the Greenhill Round Robin, which will be held on September 9 and 10. As with any round robin field to be released this year, a caveat ought to be included, and it’s one that the tournament director mentioned as well.   WEST DES MOINES, Iowa — The 2010 edition of the Valley Mid-America Cup — to be held at West Des Moines Valley High School and Valley Southwoods Freshman High School on September 25, 26, and 27, 2010 — is now open for entries on Joy of Tournaments. The tournament includes competition in Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Policy Debate, and Public Forum Debate, with bids to the TOC at the quarterfinal, semifinal, and semifinal level.

  THE VICTORY BRIEFS INSTITUTE — 191 students from across the country have arrived on campus to participate in VBI@UCLA Session II.
